WELCOME TO THE GOLDEN WIND ZEN CENTER

Welcome!

"Good and bad come from you own mind.
But what do you call your own mind,
apart from your actions and thoughts?
Where does your mind come from?

If you really know where your own mind comes from,
boundless obstacles caused by your own actions
will be cleared all at once.

After seeing that,
all sorts of extraordinary possiblities
will come to you without your seeking them."

Chan Master Dahui Zonggao (1089 - 1163)
Many of us come to a point in our lives when we experience significant questions about who we are and where we're going.

After so many years of living with unexamined assumptions, we find ourselves face-to-face with one of life's great questions: "What am I?"

Over 2,500 years ago, this same question caused Siddhartha Gautama, later known as the Buddha, to begin a personal quest for discovery. Through open-hearted meditation practice, Buddha found that each of us has the capacity for discovering our true nature.

When we sincerely ask, What am I? we become intimate with our suffering, discover its source, and perceive the role of cause and effect in our lives. Zen meditation gives us a way of nurturing this question and, as we do so, our attachments, ideas, opinions, and prejudices begin to fall away.

Then, the true meaning of our life becomes clear and we can begin to function in a way that is helpful to ourselves and those around us.

Golden Wind Zen Center invites you to experience the practice of Zen meditation in a supportive, warm-hearted environment. At Golden Wind Zen Center you'll learn basic Zen practice techniques, including meditation and chanting. Most importantly, you'll learn how this ancient practice can help reduce suffering. The only way to benefit from Zen is to do it.
